Getting closer. Colors is getting where I want to be. Will try to get some shape into the rock part that shows more of the flow direction. Will also be looking on real world references to get away from perlin land. Also be looking at various tech issues as most of this is done as voxels and will risk sampling issues and swimming textures.

Procedural method of directly acquiring the "roots" from a curve. This to allow me to have plenty of them as the previous one was a quite heavy and complicated construction.
